Accelerated Reader Program

Accelerated Reading Program

The Accelerated Reader Program (AR) is an opportunity for students in grades 3 and 4 to improve reading comprehension by reading books at their own level and pace. Students take a 5-10 question computerized comprehension check and earn points based on the result. Points may be cashed in once a month for rewards such as lunch with a teacher, attending an ice cream party, being a classroom helper and more!.

There are over 165,000 books that are part of the AR program. The books are in our media center and are marked with a sticker and test number. At home, students can determine if a book is part of the program by going to www.arbookfind.com.

A letter was sent home in September on how to access your child’s AR progress and receive test results. 2nd grade will also participate, but in a different way. Look for more information to come.

Thank you for encouraging your child to read every day!
